Nikola swims!!

Nikola is taking swimming lessons - a big deal because she is afraid of most things at first, and definitely afraid of water. She begins each lesson afraid to get into the pool, at some point insists that she wants to go home, and spends a good deal of time with her arms around my neck and legs around my waist. But she is making amazing progress - yesterday, she went through all the steps described above and ended up jumping into the pool, swimming around supported only by a big foam noodle, and laughing whenever she got water in the face. If you could have seen her at her first lesson, you would be amazed to see her now! Last summer, Nikola, Noah and Meva went to a water park with fountains, and Nikola would barely accept getting her feet wet. I suspect that in August, when Noah returns, we can all go have a proper thoroughly soaked afternoon, with no tears on her part and no bribes on mine!!!

Comme il se doit, le 6 avril dernier, une petite fête a eu lieu en l'honneur de Nikola !

Easter Eggs Party!

Last Saturday, Nikola had a few friends over for an Easter Eggs Chasing Party.. It was a lot of fun! We'll definitely do it again next year!

Concours : Cendrillon est dans une tasse d'eau pétillante. Imaginer la suite ...

Peu après découvert Cendrillon (racontée à la garderie), Nikola a commencé à demander qu'on en parle à table. "Can you please talk about Cinderella?" est devenu un refrain classique alors qu'on vient de s'asseoir et s'apprête à prendre la première bouchée du souper. Au début, c'était amusant, mais c'est vite devenu pénible de parler encore et toujours de Cendrillon. Surtout que pour ne pas s'ennuyer, il fallait inventer de nouvelles situations et impliquer d'autres personnages dans l'histoire.
Alors, Jaye a trouvé un truc. Elle a demandé à Nikola de débuter l'histoire. Il fallait qu'elle fournisse le lieu où était Cendrillon, et également dire avec qui elle était. C'est ainsi qu'elle a déclaré que Cendrillon était dans une tasse d'eau pétillante, elle-même dans ... une machine à laver. Je vous laisse raconter la suite dans un commentaire. Nous les raconterons à Nikola, et lui demanderons de choisir la meilleure. À vos imaginations !

I have cold cheeks (Nikola's logic)

It happened a few times this week that Nikola came out of her bedroom in the morning, and the first thing she does is look for something in the hallway. But what she told me was: "I have cold cheeks"... I could not understand why she would say that.
This, until yesterday night, when Jaye mentioned, while talking about a slightly different topic, that she explained to Nikola that her lips and cheeks hydra-stick "helped protect her cheeks from the cold". Suddenly all this made sense: pretending that her cheeks were cold, was the way Nikola had found as an excuse for playing with the stick!

As Kelsey participated in the CIS Track & Field championship here in Montreal, Terry paid a visit to our little ones (I am not talking about the snow falls, which were abundant!). Here are the pics.
